What NOT to do when washing your face: 7 Common Mistakes to Avoid

What NOT to do when washing your face: 7 Common Mistakes to Avoid | SCRUBD

Washing your face is the first step in all of our skin care routines but there are some common mistakes made in this process.

Don't worry, we've got you covered because we'll cover these top 7 mistakes so you can avoid them!

1. Don't scrub too hard. You'll only irritate the skin and remove more of its natural oils than necessary.

Exfoliating your skin with a face scrub is great for removing dead skin cells, but using too granular a product or scrubbing too hard will leave your skin irritated and even cause breakouts!

Our Energising Face Scrub is a great way to reveal a smoother and brighter complexion without stripping your skin. It's combination of vitamins and essential oils as well as its creamy texture leaves your skin rejuvenated and hydrated!

2. To avoid dry and flaky skin, don't wash your face what hot water.

Don't go crazy with the hot water on your face as this can cause redness or irritation. Lukewarm water is the ideal temperature to cleanse and rinse your face.

3. You may think that harsh products are necessary for removing acne and wrinkles, but the truth is you can damage your skin in the process.

Alcohol-based products or stripping agents are often damaging to the skin because they are very drying and can cause inflammation. People with sensitive skin should be especially wary of using these ingredients!

Luckily, all of SCRUBD's skincare line doesn't contain any nasty chemicals - just natural, skin-loving ingredients!

4. The sensitive skin under your eyes is the no.1 place to be gentle.

Don't rub too hard around the delicate eye area as this can damage sensitive tissue which will lead to dark under-eye circles, redness, puffiness and fine lines around the eyes.

To give this area a little bit of love, apply our Anti-Ageing Eye Gel on the skin around the eyes. This gel gently reduces the appearance of wrinkles, dark circles and other signs of ageing around your eyes.

5. The solution to a great complexion is simple and straightforward: don’t wash your face more than twice a day.

If you want the best for your skin, don't overdo the cleansing! It's important to remove impurities but too much can strip away natural oils leaving your skin dehydrated and dull.

We recommend doing your skin routine twice a day in the morning and evening for the ultimate complexion.

6. Your facial skin is the last place you want to rub with a towel.

A little tenderness goes a long way. When drying your face don't pull your skin with a towel as this can lead to premature ageing!

Instead, lightly dab your face until all the water is off your skin - a muslin cloth is an even better material on your skin than a towel!

7. Make sure you moisturise after washing your face. The last thing you want is dry skin!

Restoring the moisture in your skin is just as important as cleansing in your skin routine. You want to avoid skin that feels tight and dry which is also prone to wrinkles and acne breakouts. Plus, dry skin is an invitation for wrinkles and fine lines!

We recommend using our Oil Control Face Moisturiser for those with oily or acne-prone skin and for those with normal to dry skin, our Anti-Ageing Face Moisturiser is your ideal choice!
